1 A Brief Introduction to Octave
This manual documents how to install, run, and use GNU Octave, and how to report bugs.
GNU Octave is a high-level language, primarily intended for numerical computations. It provides a convenient command line interface for solving linear and nonlinear problems numerically, and for performing other numerical experiments. It may also be used as a batch-oriented language.
GNU Octave is also freely redistributable software. You may redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation. The GPL is included in this manual in appendix G GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE.
