0.2. Typographical Conventions

Italic

Used for filenames, usernames, directories, commands, hostnames, URLs, and terms when they are first introduced.

Constant width

Used for Perl module and function names, and when showing code and computer output.

Constant width bold

Used to indicate user input in examples.

Constant width bold italic

Used for parts of a command line that are user replaceable, or code annotations.
